Terms

TellaSite is a service of Smart 5 Consulting Limited, company number 12281263 ("we"). By asking for a site, you ("the owner") agree to these terms.

The free period

Your site is free for up to 12 months from the day it goes live. After that there is a charge to keep it. We will tell you the price well before then, and you can choose not to continue. If you don't continue, your site will be taken down.

One free site per owner

Each owner can have one free site. To check this we confirm your email and phone number, and compare details such as your company number, business name and postcode, images and internet address. After a site is deleted we keep a scrambled version of some of these details, which can't be read back, so the same owner can't start again for free.

Sites that aren't used

At 3 months, a site that has had an enquiry or about 20 visitors in the last 30 days stays free up to month 12. If not, we email you. One click keeps it. If you don't answer within 30 days, we pause it, and we delete it 90 days after that. We email you before deleting.

Copies of your site

Your site's design and files stay ours, and a copy isn't included in the free service. You can ask for one, and we may charge for it. We will tell you the price first. We can't provide one once your site has been deleted.

Your content

You are responsible for what your site says, and you approve it before it goes live. It must be true, legal and yours to use, including all images, documents, comments from customers and any legally required business details. AI writes the wording. It uses your answers and may add services, questions and other wording you didn't mention, so please read every page and change or remove anything that isn't true of your business. If you choose not to use AI on the form, your wording is used as you wrote it, and your details aren't sent to AI to write your site.

We may refuse or remove any site that is illegal, misleading, adult, offensive, pretends to be another organisation, or is a risk to visitors. We may do this without notice if we need to act quickly.

The contact form

Messages go to your email, with a copy to us. We save each message and its technical details for 24 months, as the privacy notice on your site explains. You look after any personal details you receive and are responsible for how you use them. We limit the number of messages per day and block what looks like spam, so we can't promise every message arrives.

Visitor statistics

We add Google Analytics to your site, in an account we manage, so we can measure its use. It only runs for visitors who accept it. Your site's privacy notice explains this.

The credit link

Your site shows a small "Free website by smart5.co.uk" link in its footer, and we may mention publicly that we built it.

Your web address

Your address (yourname.tellasite.com) belongs to us. You can use it while your site is with us.

Our responsibility

TellaSite is for businesses, clubs and other organisations, and for people presenting their own work or career, such as a personal portfolio. It is free, and we provide it as it is. We don't promise it will always be available, free of errors, or bring you customers.

You are responsible for your site, its content, how you use it and any enquiries you receive. As far as the law allows, we have no liability to you for anything to do with the service, including lost business, profit, data or enquiries. The law doesn't allow us to exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, so nothing here does that. If the law treats you as a consumer, you keep the rights it gives you.

If someone makes a claim against us because of your site's content or how you use it, you agree to cover our resulting losses and costs.

We may change or end the service. If we end it, we will try to give you at least 30 days' notice. Please keep your own copy of anything you need. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
